Deep Cover Nail System

Built a full-featured e-commerce platform to showcase beauty products that are both functional and stylish.

Project Context

Deep Cover Systems is the leading medicinal nail polish that treats the root of most nail problems caused by fungus and bacteria. No other nail polish can do what Deep Cover Nail System does. The product has been featured on national TV programs and leading industry publications such as SELF and Life&Style Magazine.


Deep Cover Nail Systems needed a powerful, new e-Commerce platform to showcase products that are both stylish and functional.

An open-source content management system and modular development meant rapid execution and cost-savings that we could pass on to Deep Cover. We worked with their public relations partner Mouth to develop editorial photography for the site while our designers built custom illustrations to be used in place of product photography across the site. 

Our Approach

We took a standard design approach to developing the deep cover site. We started by building low fidelity wireframes and developing user stories to help lock down essential functionality. We then worked through the technical requirements – building design concepts to illustrate the aesthetic and layout that would be used for each section.

Key Features

The platform was built with the latest HTML5 standards and leverages responsive web design to seamlessly adapt to different displays. Building the site on a powerful content management system also ensured the platform could scale to meet future needs. Ikonic also built custom reporting dashboards and trained Deep Cover staff on how to manage product information, customers and order details through a single interface.

In addition to building the website and e-commerce solution, ikonic built an interactive nail polish application so potential customers can easily "try on" each nail color and discover their new favorite color.



The website and e-Commerce platform launched in 2012 jump-starting Deep Cover's most successful year to date. Since the launch of the new website, Deep Cover sales have increased by 55 percent.
